Rí-rásaíocht Chonaire Slí Gaeltacht Mhúscraí

– Slí Gaeltacht Mhúscraí Ultra Trail Race –

An Satharn seo, 3ú Márta, tabharfaidh reathaithe uaillmhianacha ó cheann ceann na tíre faoi slí siúlóide áitiúil Slí Gaeltacht Mhúscraí do dhúshlán na rí-rásaíochta bliantúil. Ag tosnú sa Chaolchoill, don dara bliain anois taistealóidh Rí-rásaíocht Chonaire Slí Gaeltacht Mhúscraí thar cosán Slí Béara-Breifne ar feadh 70km, ag críochnú an tráthnóna chéanna i Sráid a’ Mhuilinn.

Conair iomlán slímharcáilte é an rás, ag clúdach díreach os cionn 70km den bhealach seo (le thart ar 2000m de dhreapadh), ag rith ar feadh Slí Béara-Breifne idir an Chaolchoill agus Sráid a’ Mhuilinn, trí cheantar Gaeltachta Mhúscraí. Trasnóidh na reathaithe thar sliabhraonta na Seithe agus Dhoire na Sagart, thar éagsúlacht tír-raoin  garbh sléibhtiúil, conairí foraoise agus bóithre tuaithe ciúine.

Céim 1: An Chaolchoill go Guagán Barra – 16.6km, dreapadh 665m. Tosnóidh an rás ag Caisleán Charraig an Easaigh ar a 8:00rn, áit ina thabharfaidh reathaithe aghaidh aniar aduaidh amach as sráidbhaile an Chaolchoill ar feadh Slí Gaeltacht Mhuscraí.

Céim 2: Guagán Barra go Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh – 12.2km, dreapadh 205m. An scoith-am chun an seicphointe seo ag Coláiste na Mumhan a bhaint amach ná 4.5 uair a’ chloig (12:30in).

Céim 3: Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh go Baile Mhúirne- 19km, 410m climb. Ni mór do na reathaithe ar fad an seicphointe seo a bhaint amach laistigh de 7 uair 45 nóiméad (3:45in) nó déanfar iad a dhíbirt ón rás agus ní bheidh cead acu leanúint ar aghaidh.

Céim 4: Baile Mhúirne go Sráid a’ Mhuilinn –  24.1km, dreapadh 690m. Críochnóidh reathaithe an rás díreach lasmuigh den siopa Centra, ach lámh a leagadh ar clár-léarscáil Slí Gaeltacht Mhúscraí.

This Saturday, 3rd March, a host of ambitious runners from all over Ireland will tackle the local walking trail Slí Gaeltacht Mhúscraí for the annual ultra trail race challenge. Starting in Kealkil, the second running of the Slí Gaeltacht Mhúscraí Ultra Trail Race will will follow the route  of the Beara-Breifne Way for 70km, finishing that evening in Millstreet.

The race is a fully way-marked trail that covers just over 70km of this route (with approx. 2000m climb), running along the Beara-Breifne Way between Kealkill and Millstreet. Runners will cross the Sheehy and Derrynasaggart mountain ranges over a variety of tough open mountain terrain, forest trails and quiet country roads.

Stage 1: Kealkill to Gougane Barra – 16.6km, 665m climb. The race will begin at Carriganass Castle at 8:00am, where runners will head NW out of Kealkill village along the Slí Gaeltacht Mhuscraí route.

Stage 2: Gougane Barra to Ballingeary – 12.2km, 205m climb. The cut-off time for reaching this check-point at Coláiste na Mumhan Irish college is 4.5 hours (12:30pm).

Stage 3: Ballingeary to Ballyvourney – 19km, 410m climb. All runners must reach this check-point by 7 hours 45 mins (3:45pm) or they will be timed out and not allowed to continue in the race.

Stage 4: Ballyvourney to Millstreet –  24.1km, 690m climb. Runners will finish the race just outside the Centra shop, by touching the SGM map-board.
